Danbury Unites for Immigrants is a grassroots nonprofit born from a neighborhood's refusal to let its neighbors face deportation alone. We are organizers, attorneys, interpreters, parents — and we fight for every family.

Our Mission
Resist. Educate. Build. Liberate.
We exist to resist this administration's anti-immigrant agenda by providing know-your-rights education to immigrants in our area, building solidarity networks, and advocating for justice. We aim to create a community where all immigrants are able to use their power, are respected, and are valued.
We aspire to build a cross-sector, multi-generational, and multi-racial resistance grounded on radical thinking, radical imagination, and radical love.
This means grasping at the root of the struggles our communities experience and facing systems that do not lend themselves to our collective and individual needs. It means being courageous to learn to unlearn, to ask questions, and to coldly and creatively think through and act on solutions that get us closer to envisioning our collective work that goes beyond dismantling and steers towards building.

Dignity and Respect
We affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person, regardless of immigration status, country of origin, or circumstance. We reject narratives that dehumanize or marginalize immigrants, and instead promote language and practices that honor the full humanity of all community members.
Radical Solidarity
We stand together across differences of nationality, language, culture, religion, and experience. We build bridges between diverse immigrant communities and non-immigrants to foster mutual understanding and collective action. Through solidarity, we transform individual challenges into collective strength and resilience.
Community Empowerment
We believe in the power of immigrant communities to lead their own liberation. We commit to developing community-led solutions that center immigrant voices and leadership. Through education and knowledge-sharing, we help transform individuals from passive recipients of services into active agents of change.
Inclusion and Diversity
We celebrate the rich diversity of immigrant communities and ensure our organization reflects this diversity in our work. We actively work to remove barriers to participation and create accessible spaces where everyone can contribute meaningfully.
Justice and Advocacy
We advocate for systemic changes that promote justice, equity, and human rights for all immigrants. We challenge systems of violence, discriminatory policies and practices against our immigrant community. Through education and organizing, we mobilize communities to advocate for themselves.
Safety and Belonging
We are committed to creating environments where immigrants feel physically, emotionally, and culturally safe. We foster a sense of belonging that counters the isolation and marginalization many immigrants experience. Through celebration, mutual support, and shared purpose, we nurture the feeling that everyone belongs.

We conduct our work with honesty, transparency, and consistency between our stated values and our actions. We take responsibility for the impact of our work and are accountable to the communities we serve.
